Annual service numbers climbed
HU experienced a 153% increase in number of client visits from January to December. And 82 households utilized our pantry for the first time during 2020. Due to the pandemic, pantry access had to be limited, so curbside service was implemented without any major issues.
new pantry appliances
Through generous organizations and successful grants, HU received a new freezer and refrigerator to meet our increased cold storage needs.
Kids summer lunch program
The summer lunch program was launched in July. With the assistance of Gordon’s (in Mazo), Heights Unlimited volunteers in Black Earth and Mazomanie served more than 2,000 meals to community kids under age 19.
EVICTION PREVENTION PROGRAM
HU partnered with Porchlight’s Eviction Prevention Program to assist with rent or utilities for those in our Dane County service area at risk of becoming homeless.
HU Volunteers recognize Joy from Gordon’s (Mazo) for her assistance in creating meals for the summer lunch program.
Recognition for school meal program.
School Meal Assistance
Many local families are experiencing a pandemic-related economic pinch, resulting in having to forego payment of some monthly bills in favor of others. Rather than allow WHSD children go hungry, HU covered unpaid lunch balances to ensure all kids got hot meals.
coupon programs
HU developed coupon programs which helped clients buy footwear from The Shoe Box and hot meals from local restaurants.
