Kids who are nutritionally sound do better in school. Here are some Friday food backpacks awaiting distribution to kids signed up for Backpack Buddies.
Food Pantry
Heights Unlimited (located in The Grove Regional Community Center) strives to provide a large variety of items to our clients, including cereals, vegetables and fruits, dairy products, detergent, soaps, baked goods, boxed meals, diapers, frozen meats, and more. We even offer, on occasion, cat and dog food so that clients are able to keep and care for their family pets.
In-need families and individuals may visit Heights Unlimited for food and household/personal essentials every Tuesday from 4-6 pm at 314 Anne Street in Mazomanie. First-time clients are required to complete a TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) form and provide identification for themselves and family members and proof of address (e.g. utility bill).
Weather-related pantry closures follow the lead of the Wisconsin Heights School District. If the district schools close, then HU will also be closed and will not reopen until the following Tuesday. Every attempt will be made to also place a timely posting of our closure intent on our Facebook page.
CLOTHes Closet
We try to maintain a supply of adult and children’s seasonal clothing for most sizes and genders. Need clothing or have clothing to donate? Contact Francine Rask (francine@newheightslc.org) for a convenient drop-off time.
Backpack buddies Program
HU offers a backpack program to all Wisconsin Heights School District students to address weekend food and nutrition insecurity. Families who wish to participate in this program should contact the principal of their child(ren)’s school (elementary, middle or high school).
Summer Lunches Program
When the school year ends, so ends the assurance of a daily lunch for some kids. So, during the summer, Heights Unlimited offers free lunches (including milk/juice, sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, and snacks) to children 18 and under. Lunches are distributed in parks in Black Earth and Mazomanie. Watch HU’s Facebook page for start dates and updates.
Wisconsin Heights Sharing Tree
Holidays can be a little brighter for area families in need with the Heights Unlimited sponsorship of the Wisconsin Heights Sharing Tree. The Wisconsin Heights community very generously donates gifts for this event, normally held just before Christmas, so parents/guardians can shop to ensure under-the-tree holiday gifts for children 0-16.
